Happy Birthday, Nicholas

Tomorrow!!!! My Best Friend turns 27 & I’m hoping we can flood the comment section with well wishes to wake up to

Nicholas, although always deserving of the best birthday ever, has been nothing short of a superhero these past few weeks. He has taken off for every single appointment – even surprised me for the very first one where I was sure I was getting negative biopsy results (thank goodness), and asked every question when all I could do was cry. He was with me for 12 hours a day every day at the hospital (even extra when my nurse let us finish our movie ;)) and dealt with…unspeakable things…without batting an eye. Things no 26 year old spouse would ever expect. He was patient beyond belief – even when I was so angry I threw a pillow. He can’t legally prescribe his wife medication, but when I say he made me LAUGH & LAUGH every. single. day. I mean it. Then, when the Doctors came in, he was all business & asked every question I’d never think to ask. Then explain it all to me in a way I’d understand, plus texts and calls the entire family to update & answer their questions as well. He’s run everything by Surgeons at work, so it’s like I get 3rd and 4th opinions for free. Now, he changes my dressings and does scar care for me every night, and doesn’t get angry when I slap his hand away when it hurts too badly. He fills our home with nothing but smiles and laughter when I know he is hurting just as much. And he does ALL of this while being an Intern in a General Surgery Residency program (I don’t know if y’all saw Grey’s Anatomy Season 1, but it is NOT easy)!!!
